Hi - have been running DOSBOX 0.74-3-3 just fine on my MacBook Air M1 / Apple Silicon. Now every time I try to Option-Enter or put fullscreen=true in preferences DOSBOX just quits. No dialog box / error message / nothing in the console as far as I can see.

The only thing I can think of is I recently upgraded to Monteray 12.4 (from 12.3). Anyone else seen this / have any suggestions?

I have posted my preferences file below but also renamed it and ran DOSBOX to create a vanilla one and I had exactly the same issue

Not sure if this will help, but M1 Macs in general have issues with displaying content in Fullscreen from applications that are not M1 Silicon optimized. I believe it has to deal with the way Apple now uses Dynamic Scaling. DosBox has this issue. This also broke Elder Scrolls Online as well. You have to run that game in Windowed Mode for instance otherwise it will load but you will be unable to provide any kind of input with a mouse.

Thanks for testing. Seems I need to go over my build scripts ;(

Took a while but I fixed my build. Problem was that I use a tool that puts all the required libraries in a subfolder and points the binary at it. The SDL12-compat library needs the SDL2 library but doesn't link to it, so the tool didn't add it to the libraries folder.

Hey! Got something here:

It is almost a full screen...

fullresolution=1920x1080
windowresolution=original
output=overlay
...

aspect=true
scaler=normal3x
[/quote]

Thank you so much rodbrites!

This fix also helped me. I've been running Dosbox 0.74-3-1 on my Macbook Pro for years, but this week I got a new Macbook M2 running Ventura.

When I hit opt-R to go full screen, the dosbox window stayed the same size but the rest of my screen went black.

The rodbrites build fixed that error. I'm on an Apple M2 pro running OS 13.0. Tested with the full screen with Oregon Trail, Dune 2, and Heroes of Might & Magic. All good.

Hi,

i'm running 0.74-3-3 on a M2 mini (2023) macOS Ventura 13.4 (22F66). Deleted my conf file for vanilla settings. When hitting Opt+Enter the DOSBox window just closes without any error message.

Thanks

SVN version doesn't support using a shift key (it appears to be reading the Mac's shift status directly - I had the same issue using an old verison of Parallels and synergy (Keyboard/mouse sharing application)

It does seem like some of the changes are working - when I set the screen to 3x size it got about 10% larger.. maybe 20%, no way in heck it was 3X anything...

I tried adding 'forced' but the documentation is weak here, it says add that to the end, but is that: , forced or ' forced' or just 'normal3xforced' or I tried normal3x:forced as well..

And it doesn't popup a message saying "bad configuration: Don't know what you mean by forcedUpYour...." so it apparently doesn't matter WHAT you put in the config file, and there is no way to figure it out...

I'm assuming the basic idea here is to download the source code and look through that to see what options are supported, and how you add 'forced' to the output?
So there is no way to know if it is seeing a bad char in the file and blowing off the rest of the file or not...

The source is downloading, so I guess the answer is to look through it and see if I can figure it out...

It should be trivial to add a nX larger screen size (2x is 2xs2 pixels in output drawn for each source pixel, 3x is three... 4 is 4 (I'll need at least 4X maybe 5X, as I'm looking at 3860 in the width, and some of these games are something like 480 as the max x or y size..)

All of the 'Window' options are greyed out as well..

Sigh, so far nothing listed here is working.. Except I was able to find the config file finally.

It's "hq2x forced" for example.
