Hi, was recommended this site from another forum. I have an DOS program called EPROM.EXE from Dallas Semiconductors (programmed 1994). This application has been running in a 16-bit DOS environment apparantly, as I get the message "Built for 16-bit DOS subsystem" when I try to run it. This when I tried to communicate through the COM-port in WIN XP. Any one that think that I could run this old DOS program in an 32-bit DOS enviroment, using DOSBox?? And how to start an .exe file in DOSBox??

I would very much appreciate any help in this matter!

Kind regards B

try reading the documentation that comes with DOSBox.

and yes DOSBox should run stuff from 94 just fine.

You should take a look at this forum SECTION as well as doing what Qbix suggested.

If you are still stuck, keep asking.

Hi again, did what you guy´s proposed, got DOSBox started. Also started my old program "half-way" using the really helpful intro text. Real good stuff!! 😀 .

But the only problem is that the program stopped after it had printed it´s name, saying that "COM1 DOES NOT EXIST" (see attachment). Is there a way to solve this? As the Dallas program apparantly uses the COM1 port. Can DOSBox use peripherals as COM ports?

Thankful for any help!

Kind regards Beagles
