Here's my problem: I mistakenly changed the core settings on my DOSbox 0.73 config file and when I saw my mistake I changed it back to core=auto and when I tried to go full screen by pressing alt + enter, something crazy happened - the DOSbox console screen (DOSbox main screen went blank (as if all the print on it were erased) and DOSbox would no longer go full screen, and DOSbox now crashes - but it was running just fine in that netbook yesterday and for the past 2 weeks (this was before I changed these settings in the config file as I described) without any problems, I was able to go full screen, and play games in DOSbox ok until just now.

I tried uninstalling DOSbox and reinstalling my backup copy of DOSbox 0.73 that I have on a USB flash drive, but the computer (a Dell Inspiron netbook) somehow kept the copy of the screwed-up DOSbox config file and used this in place of the new fresh-start config file that was supposed to be there when I reinstalled my backup copy of DOSbox.

I also changed DOSbox's cputype=486, rather than 486_slow, and scaler=super2xsai forced. Could you please help me get my DOSbox back to its original defaults?

Thanks in advance.

Here is an image of my DOSbox's data (in the console that's behind the main DOSbox screen) when I try to go full screen by pressing alt + enter - this screen only appears for a couple of seconds, then DOSbox crashes.

Go to the path you see in the DOSBox Status Window and delete the "dosbox-0.73.conf".

Then when you do "Edit Configuration" in the Start Menu for DOSBox it will create a new DOSBox.conf.

If that doesn't fix the problem then it's a video driver issue.

Where do I find my "local settings\application data"? I can get to "Documents and Settings\UserName\" ok, but can't seem to find my "local settings"?

It's a hidden directory, so you'll need to adjust the explorer settings, use a
different app to browse the directory or enter the path manually.
Before all that try the "Reset Configuration" which writes a clean dosbox
config file into the default location.

I tried typing "reset configuration" at the z: prompt, but DOSbox is no longer accepting my commands. And I searched the readme for how to reset my DOSbox config file but it doesn't tell me exactly how to do this.

Could you please walk me thru changing my Windows Explorer (in Win XP of my netbook) so I could access my "local settings" so I can delete the screwed up config file and how to make a new clean DOSbox config file?

Just now tried to enter the path manually. But there's no windows explorer address bar to type in the path in Windows Explorer - how exactly do I enter the path manually?

You do not need to type anything inside DOSBox. It's just a SHORTCUT in your programs' folder.

Ok - I found the "reset config" command, and I fixed my DOSbox to work like new again - Thanks!

Apparently the "scaler=super2xsai forced" setting (which I made earlier today in my DOSbox config file) was what was causing the problem in the first place, being that I was running DOSbox in a netbook. I made this setting (which was "scaler=normal2x" originally) in an attempt to increase the resolution of the gameplay graphics in my DOS games.

I also set my DOSbox "cputype=486" in order to emulate my old Packard-Bell PC (which ran DOS and Windows 3.11) that I had gotten rid of 5 months ago.
