Just curious how well dosbox would perform with an amd64 under gentoo for example?

Quite considering getting one, and would like to know if dosbox is supported before getting one. 😀

I am not sure whether it is possible to compile DOSBOX for 64 bit processor, but 32 bit version will work in any case.
I do not think that you will get any significant performance increase - DOSBOX performance depends chiefly on processor speed.

it works under amd64. at least under gentoo linux

My system will compile and run DosBOX fine, but I'm getting crashes. Here is the text from the command line:

hmmm do you have an amd64 version of sdl installed ?
I recall being many problems with that.

I have an a64 3400+, and I couldn't be happier with performance! I can actually run xwing smoothly! 😁

I'm running the win32 version though, hopefully someone will make a win64 version when the OS comes out!

All my libraries should be 64-bit as Gentoo compiles them and everything. I haven't rebuilt SDL in a while, so I'll try that.

try running dosbox as root.
