at first i want to say thank you very much for dosbox. it's a really great project. 😁

when i try to set up an ipx-tunnel-server with

# ipxnet startserver

i receive the following error-message:

"IPX Tunneling Server failed to start"

i use dosbox 0.62, linux kernel 2.6.8. my dosbox.conf contains the line "ipx=true". is the ipx over tcp/ip tunnel thing not supported on linux? or am i missing something very obvious (perhaps in my dosbox.conf). thx a lot for your help. 😀

Could be one of two things:

1) Something is already running on port 213. Try a different port.

2) Your computer can't obtain its IP information for some reason.

Let me know if this helps.

thx, it seems like port 213 didn't work. iirc only root can use ports < 1024 on linux. using a port above 1023 solves this issue. i recommend adding this information to the wiki or networking guide, because it's a really annoying problem. perhaps setting the defaultport to something above 1023 in generell would be a good idea? it wouldn't harm the win-users and the linux-users would appreciate it for sure.

anyway problem solved, z working with ipx over tcp multiplayer in dosbox on linux. *yay!* 😁
