Hardball 5 during install says it needs Files=30 in config.sys. It won't install. I am using dosbox under gentoo linux.

Team F1 (aka Pole Position) requires FILES=40.
IIRC, T2 Arcade Game requires FILES=10. Never managed to get that ***** work on DosBox 😉
The DOS contact manager ACT (ver. 2.11) says it needs FILES=40 when it fails to start.
Can send a copy; it is 391 KB.
Would DEARLY love to get this running on Linux (Debian/Linspire).
Thanks.
ACT (the contact manager) for DOS wants 40 files.
You had that info, just a friendly reminder. 😉
As of the current CVS Battlecruiser 3000 v2.0 demo now loads.
Previously would get a FILES error.
Game doesn't work past the main menu screen but hey at least it loads now.
Edited by mirekluza: replaced reference to 0.63 by the current CVS. 0.63 is not released yet. You are confusing newbies. 😀 . The latest officiall version is still 0.62.
As of current CVS (aka 0.63rc1 Unofficial non-public release)
Stonekeep 1.2 no longer needs the win95 switch to load 😀.
It also seems to run better 😀 but that could just be from my happiness.

How to ask questions the smart way!
hey robert how u do the tie fighter??? u using the d-fend??? i cannot seems to get it work on tie fighter..... pls help me !!!!
uh oh, you are hijacking an ancient thread for a "how to get game xyz running" and that in the developer section. You better use the search and respect the posting guidelines.
Noticed last night that Neverlock doesn't work in DosBox 1-30-2006 CVS.
For some reason I've never tried Neverlock in DosBox before....
@Dosfreak: confirmed, has worked earlier. Works in ykhwong's version though...
Neverlock now works in CVS again.
Neverlock not working in 3-17 CVS.
"Univeral Neverlock Spring 96"
Not enough file handles available.
Put Files=25 in the CONFIG.SYS.
Clicking around with the mouse while the above error is shown also results in a nice frozen DosBox. 😀
Application that doesn't start because of FILES= problem is "Subiekt". It's polish application so for a case you would like to ask me for translating polish→english I made a separate thread: Subiekt and FILES=
STONEKEEP IMPORTANT NOTE RE: FILES=15
This error WILL occur when you run stonekeep from a CDrom mount. The software tries to open files with read/write access and when it fails w/access error, it reports the FILES = 15 error.
Create a c: 'harddrive' mount and a separate d: 'cdrom' mount, and make sure you're sitting in c: when you run the executable. Failing to do so WILL result in a FILES = 15 error.
The 'win95' parameter seems to make no difference here as long as you execute from a harddrive mount with files that are not read-only.
