Today I picked up some oddities. And a failing SS7 board that fried the K6 attached to it, but I'll pretend that didn't happen.

First are the golden MII-333 by Cryix and a proper intel 740. Neither is particularly great, but hey, they're there.
And lastly is this strange guy.

Yeah, a NetVision 2200i that can apparently also be used in a Mac? Looking it up online makes it seem like it's hot trash for mos people's uses, but at least it looks interesting.

Anyone know what PC this motherboard has come out of? I can't seem to find it on Theretroweb. It does not look like standard AT or ATX, so I doubt it can be put in anything except maybe a custom made case? So I guess it's from some kind of OEM? Compaq or HP maybe? Doesn't look like IBM to me..

The cheapest card (top) works fine in a PCI slot, but in an ISA slot, not so much.

No idea about what the buttons and the buzzer are intented for. Never heard a sound out of my card and the buttons (at least some of them) seems to do nothing

A two-lead cable wasn't supplied with this card, and the J2 header isn't soldered on, so they just could have left that buzzer off as well...

With the buttons you can go back and forth through the generated POST codes.

But again, for future readers, don't buy this card. The ISA part is useless and can harm your mainboard.

The BX6r2 had broken PS2-ports. I did know this at purchase.
Had a real hard time getting it to post, but it's was all about a dirty slotket, dirty and loose Slot-1 (missing supports).
Fixing the PS2-ports was easy. A 0-ohm resistor (marked as fuse) just next to a screw-hole was missing (sheared off). Replacing it fixed PS2.

Finding a BE6-II is quite hard, so this will have to do for my path down memory lane.

Oh, nice! I'm not sure whether that particular model is Mac or PC compatible, but under that label is an Artist Graphics 3GA, which is a very early graphics accelerator that was sort of advertised as having 3D acceleration support but it doesn't appear it was ever implemented in the drivers.

The Saga of the Artist Graphics 2000i PCI

3GA cards are fairly rare these days, and I think that's one of the last models that used it. I have a couple of older 3GA cards myself.

I mentioned mac compatible because there is a jumper on it that mentions one setting for Mac, one setting for PC. I don't think there ever were mac drivers to begin with, if my google abilities aren't failing.

Don't need it, but I'm a sucker for hardware still in the box with everything originally included from this time period. And it's cool because it has VGA and digital output.

Not hardware, but I found this sealed copy of QEMM8. Sticker on the shrink wrap says 7/30/96.

Protip: If your BIOS won't let you shadow XT-IDE, you can tell QEMM to do it and it boosts your IDE speed quite a bit.

Yeah we are missing the Artists 3GA from VGAmuseum so I am a bit jelly. The funny thing is that the mac option would be on a PC monitor since the macs of the era had a different physical connector. There were cards with both connectors made but this isn't one of them.

As someone with too many classic macs, I'm well aware 🤣. I purposefully use G3 era Rage128s or the odd Twin Turbo M8 whenever I have PCI available so that I don't need to worry about DB-15 adapters.

Cool to get boxed. That chipset I have had on other cards, seemed very "middle" speedwise of everything on ISA that will put out VGA in DOS, and maybe a bit lower in windows. So likely fine in 1x bus 486 and below, though might be middle of 386s where you don't see any difference at all between that and a GL5434 or something.

Gut sets Compaq. Posting it or reading the bios chip might be the only definitive ways to be sure.

No idea, but for a case idea find a basic ATX "workbench" (like the slide out trays of server/early ATX/AT that unscrew from the case). An ATX one is still usable, granted you can drill some holes and measure for standoffs that may not exist. Build a custom case around it. If you can rig it up enough to get it to boot and a bios string out of it, and can figure out the psu you will be good to go

Bought yet another CRT TV from a thrift store for $5 this time (was $10, red tag was 50% off that day).

A White-Westinghouse WTV1332, which is similar to the Daewoo DTQ-13P2FC I had when I was a kid until I was 18 or 19 (the RF jack broke off and that was the only jack on the set).

Sadly, it's RF only, but, my plan is to add composite and RGB to this thing in the future since I have the service manual that has the optional section for the AV ports and I need to do more digging to see if I need an EEPROM file from a set that has the AV ports to see if I need that before I do the mod.

First things first, apply some vinegar on that place where the battery once was.
