I have tested 2 different copies of MW2 31st CC Titanium but it still failed to install as you can see in the screenshots attached:

My bad on one of those.
Both should work now unless I'm blind to typos.

After extensive testing, I can confirm now that all works almost perfect! Thank you to Myne and Been_Nath for giving a quality of life to one of the most legendary simulation game in PC history (and the most annoying because of so many different versions out there).

Thanks for the quick reply, didn't work, had a peek into the changes and there was a spelling error in the new lines:

"MERCENARIES-MD3DW95-Merecnaries D3D" {$CDDRIVE =$letter; $edition="Mercs3DSW95"; break findcd}

After changing "Merecnaries" to "Mercenaries" they were detected and installed!

Bad news is I'm having this weird problem (this is effecting D3D, 3DFX, all versions of them!) the games can start up into the menus fine BUT display this error when trying to start a mission, this didn't happen before:

Ah there we go. I digged into this error earlier, but I no where found what caused this. I couldn't find any responsible registry key either.

The problem wasn't happening when I did the actual CD installation through InstallShield Wizard. If you want to go through that, its present in my first post

If it works, then look in regedit for Activision, mercenaries and send me the details in that key so I can add it

OH well looking at the regedit clued me in that no settings changed were being saved, everything was just sitting at default.
After setting the shortcuts to run as admin I could finally change resolution and other settings! The 3DFX & D3D versions run great now! 😀
BUT the standard win95 edition still refuses to start any missions (The menus & movies still work though)

On a side note, anyone else having major FPS drops when the setting "Particles" is on?

So it's a kinda virtualisation subkey. On ye old windows 9x it's NOT in that area at all.

Are they running within DGvoodoo in a much higher res?

The 9x version might be one of those unique editions that doesn't work with that install method I wrote and chose.
I'd have to have a copy to figure it out.

The reg keys should be somewhat straightforward, but it does mean we have to figure out the Mw2 GBL and mercs keys - and any subversions eg 1.1, 1.5 etc
So a whole new layer of potential annoyances.

re-uploaded the above installer with the typos fixed.

If you're not scared of the registry...

Backup that key to a reg
Delete it

Then try this from powershell and see if it works:

New-ItemProperty -Path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Activision\Mercenaries 3D\1.0\ -Name "Display Width" -PropertyType Dword -Value 00000280
New-ItemProperty -Path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Activision\Mercenaries 3D\1.0\ -Name "Display Height" -PropertyType Dword -Value 000001e0

Actually, scratch that.
I changed it so all the shortcuts are created with the admin flag set.

Theoretically, it should fix all of the variants with that error.
