I don't know whether I should post this under hardware or software, so I'll post it here and if I'm wrong... sorry 🙁
On my (long) list of projects is building my 486 DX2-66 system. I'm going to put an SVGA card (probably Trident) and Voodoo 3D accelerator card in it, along with a soundblaster and 3com ethernet adapter.
I'll probably want to run WFW 3.11, also, and/or possibly Desqview.
Primarily I'll run DOS games, maybe do a small amount of programming, graphics and music creation on it (mostly for nostalgia), and some internet access.
I've been wanting to try FreeDOS for awhile, but I wasn't sure of its compatibility. This is an opportunity to give it a try when I install the new system (probably to a 4gb CF card).
Would this be a bad idea? Is FreeDOS still just experimental, or for embedded systems? Will there be a lot of incompatibility with games?
Can I install both FreeDOS and MSDOS 6.22 in a dual-boot config?
