Hi all. I am trying to update the BIOS on a Jetway J-542C and am having problems. The current BIOS is D05 and I understand the latest is D06. AWDFLASH.EXE gives the following error:

"The program file's BIOS lock string does not match with your system"

The BIOS file is 542cD06.BIN. I have also tried flashing the hacked 542CD06J.BIN version with the same result. I have tried two different versions of AWDFLASH with the same result.

Is there some command line parameter for AWDFLASH that needs to be specified?

"This all reminds me when i took the windows vista sticker thingy off my old laptop, and on my washing machine as a joke. A few days later said washing machine stopped working. I still think this cannot be a coincidence."

"No check BIOS Lock". That option isn't listed in the AWDFLASH /? usage page. I assume it was left out because its risky?

ETA: this is the best description of the program options I've found, though it's in Russian: http://wiki.rom.by/index.php?title=AwardBIOS_Flash_Utility

Undocumented switches abound! Indeed, it is pretty risky because basically it lets you flash any ROM you please whether it'll work or not.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the Jetway 542C and 542CS? (And between J-542B and J-542BS?)

S-versions have an onboard sound chip (C-Media, IIRC)
