Bought 4 RAMBUS sticks and they arrived exactly as pictured below:

Just four bare sticks and two deflated airbags in a box. I will test them tonight.

The test results are in...
The good: they work
The bad: two of them are PC800/40, and two of them are PC800/45
The ugly: they were advertised as PC1066 modules on the ebay listing

Got one of these Nakamichi 5 CD changer drives. I think it was around $30 shipped.

Very impressive, but does it work with DOS?

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

A fistful of quarters, maybe... 🤣
Still, I am negotiating a return or refund from the seller.

Got this Gigabyte GA-5AX with unknown CPU in dusty condition.

Nice! I havent seen this revision yet.

Yea, it seems to be quite an early revision (if not earliest). Here's a thread from madshrimps talking about it. Looks like you should be able to flash to BIOS meant for rev 5.2, but it obviously is missing the > 100 FSB feature.

Real bargain today, got 10 computers for 30€ xD

I just opened one of them (the little beige tower), it seems to be a pentium1 or something of this era

There is EDO ram, a trident graphics card and an aztech sound card which seems pretty good with a real OPL chip on it

Have not tested yet but according to a friend it will show up as 5 CD drives in DOS and Windows.

Picked up a Microsoft bus mouse at a thrift store.

I initially thought it was a PS/2 mouse and I have no adapter for it.
Is this what it uses?

Always good deals out there.

$45

Second from the right - is that a SMAC? We had a pile of those at work, way back in 2000... (Most were P2/266 with Cirrus graphics, some were P2/450 with Matrox G200s)

Main Box: Macbook Pro M2 Max
Alas, I'm down to emulation.

Not sure just yet, as you may see these units are pretty dirty so it may be wise to inspect before applying power.

However just peeking in through the open bays, I would guess a socket 7 of some type.

@Formulator

$18 for a nice looking Kaypro? (the middle one) You f-ing stole that thing.

@jade_angel

It is a standard atx case. not a good one, but standard of the era. I own one, had some no-name boring p2 era parts in it.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I was really only hoping for the original diskettes...it came with the full manual set, but the owner tossed any and all media.

And the CPU socket has 2x2 of those extensions, but the HSF is mounted using one of those wire clamps shaped a bit like a "Z". Those I find to be very useful as these allow mounting Socket 7 heatsinks onto Socket 3 motherboards that have only 2x1 of those extensions 😀

That sounds horrible. I have a 6 cd changer that supposedly requires a special program to change disks, but only comes up as one drive. One of these days I'll check it out with the 7th guest
