Hi All,
My DOS pc has an ASUS SPAX motherboard and the bios settings seem rather limited. I was hoping to disable some caches on the Pentium CPU to slow things down a bit, but there doesn't seem to be any options for that in BIOS.
I was wondering if this BIOS had a hidden or advanced section that could be enabled with some key presses, does anyone know?
Thanks,
J

Hey there Jay,

I also have this board. You can actually replace the BIOS with the one for the ASUS SP97-XV and get all of the missing functionality back.

A customized version of the BIOS is available that improves HDD (max capacity) support as well as AMD K6+ CPU support, here: http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/k6plus.htm
The SP97-XV custom BIOS: http://home.hccnet.nl/j.steunebrink/0109xvj2.zip

The original motherboard uses a 128KB BIOS while the SPAX has a 256KB BIOS. To use the customized BIOS on the SPAX, you need to increase the filesize of the custom BIOS to 256KB.
You can simply double up the file having two copies of the BIOS or add 128KB of null bytes.

I would recommend UniFlash to flash this custom BIOS. It will open up all the options you would like to control and also doesn't disable any functionality of the board (like the onboard Crystal audio chip still works).

Cheers~
