Thanks for clarifying that last question PARKE. Now i can put this thing back together. Did the VRM look like it will hold up to you too? As darry's post did worry me a bit as my coppermine was up in that chart and in the orange. I posted a picture a while back of the VRM.

The "VRM" encompasses the entire setup, not only the HIP chip but also the mosfets etc. I don't know enough about those issues to comment on that. I do have a motherboard here that is, according to the manual, compliant with VRM 8.4.
According to a note that I have (see below) here this translates to being able to handle 22.8 amps (which should be enough for your 1000 MHz cpu.

But I don't know if your Gigabyte board is manufactured along the VRM 8.4 qualifications. And this stuff is all focusing on factory specifications so I am not sure if you would ever run into serious problems if you run a 1000 Mhz cpu on a board with a VRM 8.2. I have a 1000 Mhz /fsb cpu running on a board with a VRM 8.2 without problem but I must add that it is not used on a regular basis and never under stressful situations.

Yes, I know these pages. The mod that you can apply (if you ever feel adventurous) to your two PPGA slotkets to make them Coppermine ready is relatively simple:

I think i'm gonna pass but i do have the stuff here to pull it off.

I did get the computer all put back together and all seems to be fine. I'm struggling with the SSHD at the moment if i haven't hosed it. My little 32GB removable SD is really old and i need to get a new one. After those kinks are worked out. I think i'm golden
