According to one manual I found it does not mention Commadore mode. It does mentions Switch 1-6 with "standard mode" for Epson LX-800 or "IBM mode" for IBM Proprinter II.
sorry is all I could find on a quick search...

Although you say you've got both cable types - PC & Commodore - can you confirm which the actual printer is, either Parallel Type (8 + 4 position DIP switches) or Commodore Type (single 10 position DIP switch)
