Hi folks
Wondering if the Vogons community would be able to give me a hand here.
I've got an Nvidia 6800 GS video card that I want to revive if possible and need to flash the correct BIOS to it.
The card was manufactured by XpertVision (Palit) and I'm fairly certain it's the 256 MB flavor.
Looked for the BIOS online, but was unable to locate one for the 256 MB version and so was wondering if any members here have a similar card and would be willing to dump the BIOS. I would appreciate it if they could.
I've attached a picture with my card.
Cheers.

I have this in the 512MB version. I would agree it's the 256MB one.. The 512 has a huge black heat sink over everything and a fan in the middle.

Did a quick search and there's a few BIOS's on techpowerup... both are the same

How interesting. Used the wayback machine and XpertVision were advertising the same card for the 512 MB version, except they had the "Super" moniker in the description.
Initially I thought I might get lucky and find the vBios there, but no dice.
Thanks for the links, checked Techpowerup but didn't see those ones. I'll def try them and report back when I get home next week.
Cheers.

Check this one. You can also use NiBiTor to edit vendor and device IDs, GPU clocks speeds, memory speeds, timings, etc.

Yep, saw that one from EVGA. I was ready to flash it with that one initially and use NiBiTor if required, but then thought about giving it a shot here on Vogons, I would prefer to get the vanilla version but if all else fails I'll try that.
Thanks for the link.

I have working Point of View GeForce 6800 GX, but it is slower and 128MB DDR , not 256MB GDDR3.

Yeah I did try to flash it with the 512 MB BIOS version as I wasn't sure which memory size mine had, but it didn't take, probably because of the memory difference.
Vendor ID, timings etc have to match otherwise I'll use NiBiTor and flash it with a different one.
Cheers.

Now I realise that I actually did see those ones before, but they are for the PCI-E interface. My card is AGP.
The search continues, or I'll use NiBiTor.

Further update in case anyone goes through the same issue as me. Managed to find an unverified BIOS from Techpowerup for Palit 8600GS, basically the same card as mine. Found reference of the BIOS I need on some old forums and the version ID from Palit on Techpowerup matches exactly.
Attempted Nvflash in dos, card gets recognised, however always getting the error: "mismatch in 128 byte page programming". Tried different versions of Nvflash and even tried forcing the Bios from EVGA, but no luck.
At this point I think the chip is faulty. The chip is a SOP 8 and I will order one.
Will update this thread when the fix is applied and if the card is working.
