I'm starting to build this vintage setup around the Opti 386/486DLC motherboard, I want to achieve a DOS gaming PC but also a test platform for old ISA sound cards which I happen to own a few.
I need help to choose the storage I will most likely have win 95 (OSR2) at least, so I need some hundreds megs.
So, here's the junk
mobo/processor
it supports the on die L1 cache and many other setting I don't know.
I have 8x 4mb simms for a whopping 32Mb !! 🤣
case
it's complete, heavy and in good shape
video for now, too bad the chipset does not support "acceleration"
Storage I have this bunch of disks, from 40mb to 1gb, I particularly like the seagate ST-157A because it's double height, but it's too small, so my choice for IDE would be the 1gb Maxtor
Or the HP (seagate) 1gb + Future Domain SCSI
Another view of the st-157a
Should I stick with IDE for better DOS compatibility? or give a small speed increase with the SCSI
Trailing edge computing.
