S3 = Matrox?

No, he was just extending the conversation by commenting on other graphics chips companies that have been around a long long time and still making graphics chips. 😀

Matrox current M-series cards are not only 2D, they have 3D features too, but not very fast. Half-Life 2 is still playable though.

Yeah, but try finding one for sale. This is the first and only one I have ever found.

I bought one S3 Delta Chrome S8 Pro AGP with 256 MB RAM last week:

Now I have got three of those so I could get rid of one 😀

I hate to continue the threadjacking re S3, but I've been looking for them on and off for years.

When S3 first got back into the quasi-modern game in the mid 2000's, they actually briefly showed up on Newegg. I remember seeing the Chrome S27 (i think that's the model). It supported multi-GPU (they even had an S3 Trade name for their own version of SLI but I forget what it was - or I suppose "is" - in theory). Supposedly it was competitive with the GF 6600GT, which made it respectable but about a year and a half behind.

I regret not buying one to this day. I can't find it. And their newer cards seem to be mostly paper-launches. I'm not sure what their graphics division's business model is these days.
