I'm running w2k on a HP Thin Client. Now I installed a 24" display whit a resolution of 1920x1080. But I can't chose that resolution. First I would say... not supported, but than I found even higher resolutions like 1920x1200 and some 20something by14something. The onboard graphic card I use is a SIS Mirage.

So is there a simple way to set the resolution to the right one? Could not find anything for w2k....

Not a OS issue. That's a driver issue.

You can trying modifying the driver .inf or use powerstrip

Just because a higher resolution is listed doesn't actually mean it's available. There's a lot of bad, messed up, generic drivers designed for different video card models and that could be just what you're seeing. However, if you can indeed set these higher resolutions, as DosFreak stated, PowerStrip is something to try, but I wouldn't put too much stock on it as it's really not all that useful for video cards past the GF6/7 series and other contemporary video hardware.

Some cards 'support' reses that high but can't output it. Like Rage128 for example can do a 1920x1080 desktop....cropped to 1280x1024 despite the monitor supporting 1920x1080

Also depends on OS. I got my Rage Pro to cough out 1680x1050 perfectly, but only on Linux. On Windows, I have to use 4:3 resolutions.
