I've purchased nearly a dozen differently labeled copies with different box art and from different regions and I've yet to locate the copy of Lemmings with the following file list.

Does anyone own this copy of lemmings and can provide pictures of the disks+boxart?

I have one original copy with a box. I'll check later tonight to see if the file list/dates match with what you need.

Is there anything special in the first revision that was changed later on?

Mine all match except for VGALEMMI.EXE, CGALEMMI.EXE, TGALEMMI.EXE which have a datestamp of 7/19/1991 11:19 AM and TANDYSND.DAT which has a datestamp of 7/30/1991 5:33 PM. Also, all my hours are one before yours, so you might understand this as 7/19/1991 12:19 PM and 7/30/1991 6:33 PM *shrug*

Anyhow, seems like a later revision than what you are looking for?

Yeah, that's the version I can't stop finding on eBay. And in regards to differences, I'm not sure what they are but it's necessary for this collection of original releases I'm working on. Lemmings and Worms (IBM-PC) are the giving me the biggest headache in the 1990+ releases category.

Bad news, mine has files dated upwards to 1991-07-30.
Strangely, at the same time, some (but not all?) files in my version pre-date yours from one hour exactly.

I'd be curious to compile a "definitive" version of Lemmings, with a mix of all latest versions of every file.
The same exercise could be done for the earliest versions also.

Yeah, that was my assumption.

I can pretty much confirm this (99%) as I've requested timestamps from eBay sellers that were an hour behind and when the disk arrived the timestamps were back to normal.

I remember seeing disk images of three different "revisions" so I'll take a look into those images later and let you know if there's an even later release. I've got two more eBay copies coming in with unique labels and we'll see what's up with those, but so far I've only physically found the one version that's been mentioned. They showed up as unmodified when dumped with my KryoFlux and matched CRC with their disk images as well.

There seem to be some responses on your VCF thread that imply that the copies of Lemmings (05-24-1991) online are cracked copies. Could the 5-24-1991 file dates have been altered?

THG's Lemmings release dates to 5/20/1991 and was the earliest cracked AFAIK and it had a disk check left over FYI. The EXEs are 5/10/1991 and crack versions typically carry a RUSSELL.DAT file and/or loader COMs, and your files lists have neither.

Later cracks (i.e. Rawcopy, Neverlock) were still loaders.

There's also historical posts in google groups where people owned the full version much earlier than the July timestamps on these copies I own.

The really sad thing is that while the THG release is cracked, I think you just pointed out the third revision to me. It's possible it was just a leaked copy, but it's also not uncommon for a quick update to the their distribution master disk (ex. Arena, SC2K, Ultima VI)

Edit:
Okay, so while this isn't rock solid it looks like the THG release lines up exactly with the estimate this guy says he got from Psygnosis so it's a very high chance the THG release is the real original release.

vicvan on betaarchive came through with a disk image of the 05/11/91 release which confirms it was a real release and maybe possibly provided an image of the disk.

My only concern is the box art on mobygames he linked to is a UK release, but here you can see a post written by a student from New York explain that it was out on 05/20/91. Also I believe THG generally specified where their releases were from if it wasn't US.

Scene pirates usually rush on the first day of release (for competitive/prestige reasons), THG definitely did because they didn't fully crack it and only plays up to level 15 😀 DMA 1, Pirates 0.
