I did a clean install of SBBASIC and CTC Dos driver from Phils page (DOS 6.22 + win 3.11). I use a CT4170 SB16.
Anything work fine but i got a missing or wrong parameter when i load my mixer preset:

It stops at the IPL switch.

Here my ctmix.cfg:

I notice that the IPL is only on preset and not on the load blog. I put in the IPL line and after that under load, but this dont help.
Can someone tell me whats wrong? As i say its a clean new install. Just wonder what parameter is not set??
I load the MIXERSET with /Q /P in my autoexec.bat

regards
Chris

Hi Chris,
Do you have another card for testing, too ?
I "grew up" with the CT1740 only and have little experience with the late models.
CT4170 seems to be the very last model before the VIBRA series, so maybe the mixer chip has limitations ?
No offense, it's just a wild guess. Maybe it's the SB16 driver pack also (if you can try another one also).
Perhaps this one was made for the AWE series, which is based on SB16 design..
From what I remember, Phil used to be a big AWE64 Gold fan..

Anyway, good luck! 😀

Not all SB16/AWE variants has every mixer parameters. For example the Vibra variants lacks the bass, treble and gain control settings, and the AWE64 CT4520 only lacks the gain controls.

Try removing the "bad" parameter from the CTMIX.CFG file.

My solution was switching the soundboard. Im using a CT3980 now, without any problems.

That's much better card than the SB16 CT4170, with real OPL3 and proper high DMA support.

What's the issue with CT4170 High DMA ?

The CT4170 unable use high DMA values and must use a low DMA value for it instead. This affects compatibility with software when using the SB16 option for 16-bit mixing in DOS as some will only allow to use an actual high DMA.

Using Unisound fixed the issue 😊

The easiest way out of this. 😉
