(You may hear my nose whistling for pretty much the whole video, I have a bit of a stuffy nose at the moment, so sorry about that. I used the Youtube audio swap thing, but as of now that's still processing, so my disgusting nose noises should be gone soon!)

That sounds like a driver related problem. I had the same thing happen years ago with the Turok 2 demo, but I forget which card I was using (might have been a Rage Pro or Matrox G400/500 series card). In my case though, I had the game working fine initially, but the textures disappeared a few months later. (since it was just a demo, I never bothered to try to fix it)
In my case, I don't think there was any hardware change, so it was probably software related only. (like an OS update breaking the driver, etc)

I have benched a VIA Unichrome IGP (S3 internally) on a Sempron 2400+ / KM400 system, 64 MB shared memory DDR333, Win98SE. Seems to be DX7 compliant, nature test of 3DMark2001 fails. Scores 1288 3DMarks.
In 3DMark2000 it scores 2411 3DMarks.
3DMark99Max freezes on startup.
Final Reality 1.01 3D Score 6.67

Does VQuake have the same disadvantages as GLQuake involving absent graphical features?

As best I recall VQuake supported fullbrights, and you could force point-sampled filtering with mipmapping if you really wanted to. And, if this video's anything to go by, VQuake also ran with overbrights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYXF_VhAhlI
The only disadvantage I remember in VQuake compared to GLQuake was that the Rendition hardware only supported per-vertex mipmapping. For what it was, the V1000 was top shelf, and the V2x00 was a worthy followup.

I don't think you'll see them listed again. They were sold out. At one point I was in talks with him to buy the whole lot that he had but I had trouble justifying the shipping price from England to the US.
Haha... I didn't really think the same guy would be selling them - but just knowing there is an 8 banger out there means "one more thing" on the old eBay selective seach.. I have a nice 4mb S220 and it runs old Rendition games fine, but I'd really like to goose the horspower for Indycar Racing 2 Rendtion. It runs fine but driving games benefit more than any other from FPS+ to really 'feel' the controls.
Is anyone working on a Rendition Wrapper?
Picked up one of those 8MB cards. Sits in a Dell Dimension L667r along with 128MB RAM, a Voodoo 1 4MB, a SB Live! and a NIC. 😀

-3dmark99 freezes on startup
-xlr8r reports that features are missing
-Final Reality runs
-Unreal does not run, GPF on texture load
-Dethkarz runs but still stuttering at low details, have to leave skybox enabled or screen gets very dark.
-Forsaken runs
-seems to have no opengl
-Powerstrip reports 93 MHz clock, AGP 2x with SBA, I used a Athlon 500 on GA7IX.

The Rage-XL cards looked cool though, especially the L-shaped ones. And they make a great partner to a VooDoo 2 on older windows 98 systems, as they give a great sharp image quality and can provide the 32bit colour options that the VooDoo can't provide. I have a few lying around. Wish I had more VooDoo 2's 🙁
