Any hints about this video card and support in Windows 3x or NT 3.x? I got one of those HP thin computers with a Crussoe CPU and I was thinking in trying it with old Windows (pre 95) on it (and of course some DOS stuff).

Only Generic SVGA Driver will work with Radeon.

Thanks @matze79 but sadly it didn't work 🙁 I will try with one of the old Trident cards I have at home because the max I could do with the integrated Radeon R100 has been VGA and lower resolution.

again, thanks

There a few 256 Color Drivers for 3.1 you also can try Scitech Drivers

Thanks again @matze79 but I think I gave up. I tried with SciTech drivers, 5x, 6x and 7... No luck neither. The MSDOS driver says no compatible SVGA display chip is found, when I try and run manually VBETEST in version 6.x I can see it can correctly display the color and patterns at 1024x768 and 16bit colors so it can clearly handle the DAC but I have no idea how to go and tell it "hey, I know you don't detect a compatible chip and all that stuff but believe me, it works" and then from there tell Windows to do the same...

This hobby is getting harder than I expected 😁

Nah @zyga64 I tried already patching the svga256 driver with vgapatch and it didn't work. I think I will have to stay with that low resolution in Windows 3.11, I really have NO idea what is happening... I am pretty sure that card is capable of supporting VESA 2.0 but for some reason I cannot find a driver that handles it.

Thanks for your help.

I would attempt to use the 3D Rage Pro Windows 3.1 driver

You may have to mod a few things to force installation but I’ve had good luck on everything from video cards to printer drivers forcing an older driver from a relatedbut older device as the driver

YMMV

Rage 3D pro driver does not work for R7000/R9xx0.

R7000 works with WFW256color-drivers
R9xx0 only works with patched vesa-drivers.

The r100 is identical to the r7000?
