I tried to unlock the 16 pipelines with Rivatuner but gained only little, I don't understand. 3450 kills it

And now, Afterhours unlocking pipelines, I overclocked it to 400/1000 like a 6800GT
But the result is 6800 😅

But why is the 3450 much faster despite now also having fewer pipelines? I am going crazy

Both are 5:12:12:12 but 3400 is run at 350MHz with ram at 900MHz. FX3450 is nearly 75MHz more with ram at 1GHz and cooler.

Also the die is completely different. 3400 is NV40/NV45GL while 3450 is NV41. These are pulled from wiki.

Must be driver related. I suspect if You were using WinXP with non modded drivers You wouldn't have this issue.

I saw now that Nvidia, however, has made official drivers for 9x that support the 6XXX series and the Quadro 3XXX. I don't need to install the unofficial ones then https://www.nvidia.com/it-it/drivers/win9x-archive/

The rest of the configuration is:
-Asus Sabertooth X58
-i7 930 @1.8ghz single core only
-1gb RAM
-Audigy SB0090
-Integrated network via ndis 2

However, the 3450 in the same slot is at 16X

AIDA64, maybe Everest Home (if you want 100% free), HWInfo should be able to do it as well (GPU-z can do it, but that's WinXP+).

Card may have damaged traces or filtering caps to/from PCI-e slot, which prevents it from running at full x16 speed.
It doesn't matter what other cards can do on the same slot at that point.

You won. On Windows XP with the latest available driver these are the results:

Stock

16 pipelines unlocked

Now I have to figure out which driver to use on Windows 98, I don't want to be forced to switch to XP

Which card you can unlock for 16 pipelines? FX3400, or 3450? or both types can do that? Since I have some of these somewhere.

The FX3400 can be unlocked because it has the NV45 chip. The FX3450 does not, it is NV41
