I happened to stumble across this utility while reading through http://www.wpdos.org . Apparently it provides improved EMS and XMS support in the NTVDM.

(Is this something that VDMsound does already?)

Don't think it provides xms, just some fix for the xp himem.
The ems thing uses block copying like the emm286 somebody posted here
some time ago. Should work around problems where xp's ems provider
is not/can not be activated.

what i did once was peel the PIF editor from Win 3.11 to create a real PIF in XP, and then I was able to edit it from there with even more switches that XP provides..

Or at least I think it worked.. I've only tinkered with it a little bit..

I know if you have "version 1" of XP, it will let you create PIF quality LNK files.. but the other flavor of XP which I have now, will not let you enable XMS or EMS in the DOS shell, so I stole the PIF editor to make it do it anyway..

YES!

I did do that and it worked... !!

If it ain't borked, fix it 7 times.. Reinvent the wheel every day. Compile 8085/8086 code daily. Drink lots of instant coffee. Look both ways before cooking a turkey.
