what i did once was peel the PIF editor from Win 3.11 to create a real PIF in XP, and then I was able to edit it from there with even more switches that XP provides..
Or at least I think it worked.. I've only tinkered with it a little bit..
I know if you have "version 1" of XP, it will let you create PIF quality LNK files.. but the other flavor of XP which I have now, will not let you enable XMS or EMS in the DOS shell, so I stole the PIF editor to make it do it anyway..

If it ain't borked, fix it 7 times.. Reinvent the wheel every day. Compile 8085/8086 code daily. Drink lots of instant coffee. Look both ways before cooking a turkey.
