Hi, in Windows 98 I can't use the 1400x1050 resolution (native for my 4:3 monitor) with my Geforce4 4600 (driver 77.42).

It only allows me to select a maximum of 1360x760 resolution. Trying to add custom resolution, I get an error that it's not possible.
If I disable DDC, I can selct resolutions until 1920x1080 but still no 1400x1050.
Funny part is that in the scaling settings (where you can tell it to center or fit to aspect ratio) it tells me that the native resolution of my display is 1400x1050.

Any ideas? Tried powerstrip as well, couldn't do it either.
Thank you.

Hi,
The problem is the 1050 height. Win9x requires display resolution dimensions to be divisible by 4 and 1050 is not divisible by 4.
On a CRT 1440x1080 would work perfectly instead of 1400x1050. But on an LCD with maximum resolution of 1400x1050 you should try 1400x1048 instead.

And can you add any other custom resolutions? I mean can you confirm that the custom resolution feature works with this driver version in general?

BTW, you can add resolutions manually by editing the registry:

REGEDIT4 […]

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0000\MODES\32\1400,1048]
@="60,70,72,75,80,85"
"ModeRefreshRateList"="60,70,72,75,80,85,100,120,140,150"
"RefreshRate"="60"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0000\MODES\16\1400,1048]
@="60,70,72,75,80,85"
"ModeRefreshRateList"="60,70,72,75,80,85,100,120,140,150"
"RefreshRate"="60"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0000\MODES\8\1400,1048]
@="60,70,72,75,80,85"
"ModeRefreshRateList"="60,70,72,75,80,85,100,120,140,150"
"RefreshRate"="60"

Be aware that Display\000x can be different on your sytem depending on your adapter number. So instead of 0000 it can be 0001 or 0002 etc.
You can check the adapter name at the adapter root (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0000) to determine if it is the right place to add custom resolutions or not. If it is not then modify the above registry entries accordingly.

I couldn't add literally any resolution with the nVidia control panel, but it worked with your .reg file!!
When I select 1400x1048 the monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 203B) apparently needs 75hz because when I try 60hz it automatically falls back to 640x480.

Super weird, but thanks so much!!
