I think painting is your best option.

Just rock on down to your hardware store and get a rattle can of quick drying acrylic paint that will adhere to plastic. Those small auto touch up spray cans should do the job.
Use one fdd beige facia to practice on.

Vinyl/plastic dye works great as well, and it won't chip off.
Get whatever color filament you want, find a 3D printer available for use (Library, hackerspace, makerspace) annd https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4892482

Unfortunately fdd front facias are not exactly the same. I had to do some filing to adapt the one for the Xpc.

When I was younger I painted an FDD face plate with a black marker. It worked and looked pretty good.
