It has been a year since Nvidia famously removed all their old tech demos with female characters from their website; Dusk, Dawn, Nalu, Luna, Adrianne, Medusa and A New Dawn. I guess they are not coming back there. Interestingly enough they still have a tech demo where you can slap around a frog, so I'm guessing Nvidia is OK with animal violence.

Internet Archive has stored the official Nvidia webpage with the demos and they can still be downloaded there:

The demos from before Jan. 1 2000 were also removed at some date

Which though? I think demos like Grass, Bubble and Grove were made before 2000. Although both present and archived pages are missing сathedral demo for GeForce 2 GTS and "Grace" physics demo for GeForce 4 Ti.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

Isle of Morg is third party demo. Same goes for early CryTek island demo with dinos, which also use many features of GeForce family.

Just a daily reminder of the crazy world we live in...

Wait until they'll have to remove all demos with humans, because it offends reptiloid overlords.

NV1 Demo 3DShapes is included in the NV1 SDK on vogonsdrivers:
Re: were there ever any released tech demos of the NV1 chipset?

Here is an archived page from Nvidia in 1998 that lists a bunch of demos... downloads seem to work.. at least what I tried. Also has such things as screensavers, wallpapers and videos.
https://web.archive.org/web/20040504052442/ht … ads_nvidia.html

All files from www.nvidia.com that were archived:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.nvidia.com/*

And from download.nvidia.com:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.down … ad.nvidia.com/*

And the demos folder which looks like it was first archived in 2004:

I keep hoping go woke, go broke will apply to nVidia but alas.....

Man, that would be a sight to see. Watching Nvidia putting out objectively broken hardware nobody asked for, and hiding behind a carefully prepared "diversity and inclusion" word salad statements to justify it. Like a graphics card that sacrifices 50% of it's performance to use AI to make all the characters in all games more diverse.

See onlyfan's recent, and baffling, statements RE: Their decision to ban outright pornography, and then backtracking of that decision. I'm not really sure what "diversity and inclusion" has to do with any of that. But they managed to shoe horn it in there. Go figure. That mantra is becoming like "And God Bless America" or "For the Good of the Proletariat".

Yeah we are living in an Orwell novel. Sad sight to see.

Are you guys about done jacking off to your delusional, political correctness gone mad "what if" scenarios? Can we get back on track now?

I have some techdemos archived from years prior, namely:

Bubble
Chameleon
Creature
Dawn
Lightning
LightScattering
Nalu
HumanHead
Squid

If any of these is not uploaded on one of the above archives, I'd be glad to upload them. I have not touched them since around 2012, but the Human Head demo has always been my favorite one. It was eye opening at the time.

Haha. Let's not let the demise of the world our grandpappies knew distract us from the important task here, which is preservation. Good job on the offerings.

It looks like things are covered: https://archive.org/details/@wouterdevlieger? … ery=nvidia+demo

Could be worse, they could cancel scantily clad women off the cover of Playboy or something 😉

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Did you read the tone of the OP? That seems to be the intended direction of the topic. Obsession with political correctness, from someone who's not affected by it either way. It's not healthy.

I'm actually a bit confused Nvidia's site is where you would go for old tech demos in the first place, I would honestly have expected them to be gone from there anyway, and searched Google or the Internet Archive first. This smells more like "one person noticed something insignificant and tried to make headlines out of it" than an actual problem.

If the people here don't want political hysteria over everything, they should stop contributing to it.

You are 100% wrong. They specifically only removed the demos containing female characters, it has nothing to do with the age of the demo

Isle of Morg is from 2000 but is not on the list.

Forget the list, Isle of Morg goes to the block..err I mean Sovngarde, no I meant the eternal hunting fields of political correctness which is fairly pointless anyway because those demos were from a different time and just deleting it will not teach the future anything anyway.
But tbf, a lot of stuff gets deleted for bad reasons all the time and especially if it's basically obsolete and unsupported stuff anyway.

I find this rather silly because these old files will barely put a strain on their servers anyway and it might be easier to just leave these old files there (so they may receive our gratitude 😀 😜 ).
But old stuff on the net gradually disappears (for whatever reasons), that is the reality.

I didn't write that their removal had anything with the age of the demo. So you just read 100% wrong.

What you explicitly alleged was that someone "noticed something insignificant" and you further implied that because the demos were old you would have assumed them taken down regardless. I didn't exactly make a large leap.

The bottom line is this: you cannot in good faith say that this is not a glaring example of wokeism. The only question is whether you support it. And by virtue of your comments attempting to marginalize it, I would assume you do and are simply trying to downplay it.
