Geeze, I hate people with such easy access to the e-waste stream so much 😀
It is 100% jealousy though, so hopefully not too many hard feelings.

If it makes you feel any better, I accumulated this over the course of months. I have to do a lot of digging. And I get pretty dirty.

Pretty dirty, but rich and lucky, it is not right?:)

Bought these cards the other day for an ok-ish price, considering the poor condition of the cards...
- Aztech Sound Galaxy Washington 16
- Mintek VGA-210 EGA/VGA graphics card with Oak OTI037C chip
- Acrosser AR-B1640 v1.2 PCI SBC with a Via C3 1 GHz CPU
- Creative CT4520 AWE64 Value
So far I've tested the SBC with Win98SE and it's working. The CT4520 had a missing cap, replaced it but I couldn't test the card yet.
The Aztech card it's a little bit rusty on the gameport but otherwise it looks good.
The OAK graphics card has a few traces broken on the back side. I don't know if I can repair it...

- Sound Blaster 2
- Leadtek GF4 ti4600
- Hercules 3d Prophet II GTS
- GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
- Media Vision Jazz 16 (I never had one of these before, so this is pretty cool for me.)
- Winfast Geforce2 GTS
The Voodoo5 works, but right after I finished test benching it, one of the capacitors fell off. Should be fine. I already ordered some new ones. Anyways, I'm looking for some good cooling solutions for the V5 5500.
The Leadtek was an interesting card to put together. The heatsink came from a broken card that I bought online. The PCB was pulled from ewaste, but apparently somebody did some repairs on it already. The capacitors have been replaced. Crudely I might add, but it works regardless.
That 3D Prophet is absolutely beautiful. I love the way it looks with the blue heatsinks. Now I have to get my hands on the Ultra version.

I found this Apple computer over at e-waste. Its an Apple IIvx apparently. I never took it, but I asked them to leave it on the side. Honestly, I don't know much about Apple computers. I'm still on the fence about it. There was a monitor there that I believe went with it. I didn't find a keyboard or mouse however .HanJammer wrote on 2021-10-07, 21:55:Some stuff from a bigger haul...

Like Indiana Jones digging for "ancient artifacts". Seriously I wish there was e-waste center close to me I'd be filthy.

Typical in the e-waste recycling centers - heatsinks/fans removed as they are aluminium, steel brackets removed. Etc. These things are directly melted with the rest of the scrap. PCBs on the other hand are grinded down so the precious/rare metals can be recovered.

Nope, no heatsinks. That's how I found it.
Most heatsinks are removed using a screwdriver.
I actually found five Voodoo5s over the course of two years, but only two work so far.
One technically works but I get pink stripes on the image. Reflowing might work, but I want to see if there is something I'm missing.
The last two seem like they are too broken. A lot of broken traces.

Yeah. That's a shelf piece. Rare you're ever going to find it that perfect again. Warning though. Most computer and video game museums remove the shrinkwrap due to warping from overtight wrap and off-gassing which can degrade the paper over time. Just keep an eye on it.
A friend of mine gifted me two Asus video cards, Radeon 9550 and 9800XT. The first one just needed cleaning, 9800XT was not working, but after some repairs it is back to life. Original fan is missing, but there is home made add on fan card 😀
Also, he gave me a pair of DDR2 RAM, but I have no system to test it.
Found one thing I've been looking for for quite a while:
ISA VGA + I/O card.
Performance obviously not the goal here. I have a 486SLC system in tiny flat case with only two ISA slots either side of the shortest excuse for a riser I've ever seen. Currently there's VGA in the one and I/O in the other. Now I can combine that and add sound or networking. The latter would be cool as the system is our game box in the lab at work and seeing this ancient thing on WiFi would turn a few heads 😉
Won this DataExpert OPTI-495SX v1.1 board with a 386DX soldered on.
It needs a lot of TLC and some repairs, but it'll look nice.
