Here I try to correct yet another transgression of my youth. Finally getting a legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 97 Professional! Sealed too. What a tragedy. Let's free it from its cage.

Ahhh. That's better. And yes, I do want the address of the most important person at Microsoft.

Installing on my Socket 7 PC. Skipped a few things, including Outlook and Powerpoint. Maybe later.
This guy. This guy right here is one cool dude.

I mean just look at him go!

But really, the above is why I really wanted this. Microsoft Access. Mmhmm. I believe I will use it to create a database to track all my retro software and hardware purchases, and then I will of course store this database on a shared network drive, as one can and should do with Microsoft Access databases.
(Also, fun fact, I actually also installed this just now on my Thinkpad R52 running Windows 2000 Professional ... and, apparently that was a mistake. Just did the "typical" install, and it never completed. Sat at the end with "Setup is updating your system" for 45 minutes hogging 100% of the CPU the entire time. Couldn't even open the Start menu, or open up Task Manager. Force-rebooted, and now the system reboots incredibly slowly (over 20 minutes until desktop is visible and then constant 100% CPU usage). Ugh. For reference, the install on my Socket 7 PC shown above completed within 5 minutes and didn't hang at the end at all. EDIT: Problem resolved. Rebooted into safe mode, tried to uninstall Office, said the install was corrupt. Re-ran original installer from the CD, ran with the same options as before. Of course, this time it completed successfully. Great job, Microsoft! Rebooted normally, and now the system acts normally. Fun times!)
