I found this trolling Google.
Might be the literal end to VIA in the x86 space, at least what little was left of it.

That article is pretty unclear. It's speculating about Centaur, originally from IDT, which I never really cared for. I think the real number 3 player in x86 was Cyrix, which I find is hard to define where that ended up, as it ended up playing more of a role to AMD than VIA. If anyone finds royalty-free Cyrix design rights for sale, let me know...

Yeah it is very unclear. Even the author touched on that.
I never owned any IDT chips so I have no experience there, although I know they were always ultra budget offerings.
I still find the topic interesting though. It is interesting to me just how the IP get purchased, split up and passed around.
