Seems like the original poster has tested this with clean installs on Win98.

Why does DOSBox create EMS when switching from Z:?

Would be nice if someone else with Win98 could confirm.

A friend was going to bring in his computer which has Windows 98 FE running but it may be linked to other things like drivers too? I'll give it a go though.
