I found the evaluation version of this game at http://rushweb.org/files/ZONE102/HOPYONE.EXE . Running it in DOSBox results in a message that states "Impossible de charger les polices de caractères", which I think means that it is trying to switch to an unsupported graphics mode. (The same thing happens with the HOPY-DOC.EXE program included in the archive.)

Running either one in the Win2K NTVDM produces the same result, only the graphics screw up in a really colorful way so the text is barely readable.

This doesn't have anything to do with the game being French, does it?

(I don't suppose someone could take a quick look and tell me if I missed something obvious?)

Hey, Jorpho.

It works perfectly fine for me (including FM music). For installing I executed the downloaded EXE. Unpacked it to a folder and I mounted that folder as floppy drive A:. Then I invoked the install.bat file using install a: c:, but I guess you have already done these steps.

Using DOSBox 0.70

output=ddraw (on an ATi Radeon X800GTO card)
core=auto
cycles=auto

Both hopy-doc and hopy-one work fine. I don't understand this game though and French is not my strong point (even if French are my neighbours).

😦 I guess I forgot the -d switch when I tried to use pkunzip manually. What an ambiguous error message for the program to return!

Thanks for looking.
