Hello,
I'm a bit of lost on 320 x 200 resolution on CRT screens. The way I remembered my old experience with my 486dx100 and 1MB Trident GPU was the scanlines were hitting each pixel 1 time. It was darker but proper!
But on my current setup, I got 320 x 200 resolutions doubled to 640 x 400, hence every pixel has 2 scanlines which is not the proper way of seeing these pixels. They look like we're looking through an LCD screen.
I'm using a "scanline generator circuit " to eliminate these double scanlines which is not bad, but what is the problem or difference on these hardware since my old 486?
I also installed a trident 9000B ISA card to see if it's related with the graphics adapter, but no luck. I tried several monitors but the oldest one I can test was Compaq 171 FS.
Is this doubling related to graphics adapter, or monitor? I believe if I connect my pc to a modern LCD monitor, I still have 640 x 400 resolution reported instead of 320 x 200. So I thought it is related with graphics card, but trident 9000B is also reporting it doubled.
I'm very confused. Any light up will be amazing! Is there a way top get this single scanlines without Scanline generator like on the old days? Thanks!
