I've got this nice Planar EL640.400 electroluminescent flat panel display for a few years now. In my case this was pulled from a medical device that was produced with during the 90s with 386 and later 486&Pentium hardware which all used this display. However it seems to have been used in a variety of other industrial applications.
As its name suggests it supports up to 640x400 resolution. The display connects to the feature connector of VGA cards.
It draws 12V and 5v directly from the PC power supply via standard molex connector.
My goal would be to put this display into an external case with a stand and to not have to rely on the (internal) feature connector for video output.
I now wonder if anyone has an experience how the display could be adapted/converted to connect to a regular VGA output (DE-15).
I could be wrong but i think the feature connector signal is purely digital, so it is not as simple as just soldering a new connector.
I have attached some photos and the manual that i have saved a few years ago.
