Not (yet) retro, however, I won myself a MacBook from late 2008 (C2D 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD) in better shape than the others I saw on eBay with the recovery media, charger, and pretty much the entire box and other items.

I bought one of these for an iPhone programming class in college some years ago. It's really nice and very responsive. I don't use Macs or Mac software but I've kept it in my collection because of how nice it is.

Great find.

That's nice... ppl go on about finding a warehouse or container full of new old stock Adlib gold .. I'd rather something like that came up.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

IIRC the MX4000 was the replacement for the MX440, the 4000 being the newer of the two.

i definitve would replace PCI Card with an AGP, it will give huge boost.
But don`t buy a MX4000 if you buy.
Rather get a GeForce 4 MX460 for budget or better grab a 3TI/4TI.
For a Athlon 700 why not install something with Pixel Shaders ?

but i would avoid the FX Series, it sucks.

It all depends what titles he wants to play. I would say that everything from late 90s to 2002 or maybe even 2003-4 will be perfect on MX4*0. After all I replaced GF2MX in 2005 (O_o with GF6800GT IIR) and I didn't really complained much about performance in games prior to that (and I played alot - including titles like GTAVC and GTASA).

Missing the card and speakers. But I already have those and they will fit nicely 😉

You have a QUICKSHOT branded card, right?
Are there CMS sockets on it?
The card pictured on the box obviously has them, but the one from this topic - http://www.ljplus.ru/img3/h/a/hardware_museum … kshot_qs803.jpg - not.
And I've seen another such a card recently - without the sockets.

I actually have both versions. With and without sockets. The one without the sockets is a newer revision.

As a followup for my last question, today on my way home from the gym I met with the seller of the Athlon XP 2800+ and took a detour to pick up the MSI KM3M-V. Both seem to be in good shape, though as usual, no ESD bag for the motherboars. The packing for the CPU was also only some printer paper.

IMG-20211228-174655.jpg IMG-20211228-174712.jpg

And I don't have a cooler for the CPU. I have some for socket 370 that would fit, but those are for CPUs with one half of the TDP the Athlon has.

A Gainward Voodoo 4MB. Never owned a 3dfx card before, so I thought to have a try. For 40 euros, I don't think the price was too bad.

It's funny how things happen in life sometimes. I just ordered a bunch of AGP graphics cards on ebay, none have arrived yet and today I see a big lot of random computer parts on kijiji from a guy only a few minutes away.

So I bought this stuff for $100 Canadian. There's a socket A AMD tower, an empty Antec branded case, a white IBM Aptiva tower and a number of expansion cards and cables, including several AGP cards with DVI (just what I wanted!).

This is what I've brought in so far, there's a couple boxes still in the trunk, there was also a number of PCI modems, I tossed all those in the trash and I might chuck the 7300 AGP card it has at least one bad cap and I doubt I'll ever have a use for it.

Here's the rest of the stuff. The Aptiva is a Slot 1 P3-800 and it had a Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB graphics card. So that's neat and I'll definitely get some use out of that card. There was also a nice 256MB PC133 CL2 module in there!

Also got a box of random speakers, cords, old power supplies, etc.

EDIT - I found 4 2GB modules of Corsair DDR2 memory in the bottom of the crap box, also there was a really beaten up Acer X193 19" LCD screen but I'm probably going to toss that.

More goodies, this plastic box said laptop ram ddr2 so I assumed that's what it was but it was actually a bunch of processors wrapped in bubble wrap.

There's several Core 2 duo's, Pentium 4's and Athlon 64 processors! Most notable are an E8400 and a socket 478 P4 3.2.

Finally found what looks to be a 755CD in good condition at a decent price - roughly $110 all up. Looking forward to getting this one unwrapped!

Nice find and the price is good! Is this a 486 or P75 version?

I’m not sure, it wasn’t listed in the description nor in the screenshots. I’m torn between wanting a 486 laptop in my collection and the P75 having li-on battery compatibility.

Bought another MediaMagic Telemetry 32 card. I think this will make the 3rd one I have. Price was kind of crazy though I did make a lower offer and it was accepted:

Why would I pay a higher price for one of these... much less another one?

For the unobtanium software, that's why. The "software" I have for these already is just a few different pieces that I am not sure even work together. I've never tried getting them working but have supplied it to another person who said they couldn't get it working with what I gave them which was the only thing available that I was able to find.
Looks like these were also used in an AT&T NexGen system since there are NexGen diagnostics listed. Now I just need a NexGen system.. heh.
