Does anyone know what the highest score is for MVP3?

You can find some here
My guess is that the fastest scores can be achieved with VIA MVP3 boards that support FSB frequencies higher than 100 MHz (i.e. Epox boards like the EP-MVP3G5). Couple that with a bit of fine tuning and I'm sure that you can get pretty close to 5000 points in 3DMark 2000. 😀

5000+ I got with mvp3 overclocked gf3ti200 and fine-tuned registers with 1mb cache @124M bus, here in the thread. K6-3+ mobile @ 624M. No driver glitches, no cheats. Just raw power. To add support to gf3 to the driver one should mod the inf file.

Someone mentioned that the high scores you guys are getting are from a driver glitch not actual gained performance? What are your thoughts on that?

Back in the day, Nvidia was caught with cheaty drivers which gave artificially high scores in 3dmark. I don't know what drivers versions were like that but it should be pretty easy to find.

I’ve encountered a road block that is really turning me off to these cards. I got the gf3 ti500 to do a bench on xp but it’s doing no better than my radeon 9800 pro using the forceware 40 driver.

Someone suggested a driver earlier but I can only find it for 9x

Anyone have a good xp driver link?

Another thing, my monitors are all digital. And these cards refuse to work on dvi in dos or 9x or bios on dvi

I'm attaching Nvidia Detonator XP 27.30 It's from January 2002 and VEN_10DE&DEV_0202 is listed in nv4_disp.inf so your GF3 500 Ti should be supported.
Can't say wether this is a good choice for this specific card and platform though.

Edit: Reading your post again I'm not sure wether you were asking for an earlier driver or a specific driver that was suggested earlier. Anyway, this should be one of the earliest drivers with official support for your card and XP, and since it's from roughly a year after the NV20 released it should be mature.

Here's version 23.11 for 2k/XP in case you want to test that too. It's dated 11/29/2001 and GF3 500 Ti is listed as well.
Had to extract the original executable and compress the files with 7zip because the original exceeds upload limits.

Sweet! Thanks! I’ll try em 😀

As for what I’m looking for, the best performing one under xp. And 9x.

Separately I’m trying to figure out how to get them to show anything prior to loading windows xp. I hope I don’t have to end up getting a upscaler.

I did a K6-2+ to K6-3+ mod yesterday, and as I was testing the 'new & improved' CPU on a Gigabyte GA-5AA rev 3.2, I realized that this board got a pretty substantial boost in performance with those extra 128 KB of L2 cache that the CPU gained. The board's performance was pretty underwhelming with a K6-2+, but it gets pretty close to an Asus P5A when using a K6-3+.
So, without trying too hard and without any special fine tuning (just the usual Ali AGP changes), I was able to easily break the 5000 points barrier in 3DMark2000 at default settings (attached photo)

SPECS:
MB: Gigabyte GA-5AA rev 3.2
CPU: K6-2+ 570 modded to K6-3+, OC @ 633 MHz (FSB115 x 5.5)
RAM: 256 MB (this board has a "G" revision North Bridge with an internal tag RAM, it can cache up to 512 MB of RAM)
VGA: Asus V7700Ti (GeForce 2 Ti 64 MB, OC @ GeForce 2 Ultra)

I'm guessing that with a bit of WPCREDIT fine tuning and a GeForce 3 Ti 500, it might possibily hit somewhere around 5200 - 5300 points (maybe more?). Pretty insane!
If I ever find the time, will do some more tests in the future. 😀

Could you please post a screen shot of your Sandra memory benchmark?

I was just about to put the motherboard in the box 😁
Don't have Sandra, but I've attached the Aida64 cache & memory benchmark (I hope that's OK).
The memory numbers are a bit better than what I got with the Asus P5A in the recent video that I uploaded, but then again, the Asus was running @ FSB105, while the Gigabyte is @ FSB115 (also the Asus had a K6-2+, but that should not matter for the memory tests).

And since I powered on the motherboard again, also did a quick 3DMark99 run.

Thank you! But... I was already in the club for some years, since I bought my first Asus P5A board (which, to this day, is still my fastest). 😁
However, this is the first time I'm seeing over 5000 points with a non-Asus board (TL;DR, not sure if anyone else in this thread got over 5000 points with a non Asus board).

DVI on these early GeForce cards is virtually unusable for me (from an image quality standpoint). This is especially noticeable during POST and in DOS, where everything is a blurry mess.
ATI cards, on the other hand, have a very nice and sharp image on DVI.

All in all, I prefer the VGA output. 😀

Ah yes I remember now, well not many in 5000 with non Asus, there is VIA and then you with the Gigabyte.
I can not remember if I got 5000 with the GA5AX. I should have been close at least but the G rev is faster than E.
