2GB
ATI 850XT (256mb)
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZX
Windows XP SP2
Ascendancy (original without the maintaince patch - couldn't find it anywhere)

I dont get any sound. I've tried all different types of SB settings and gravis ultrasound. the card detection with the setup does recognice the cards but still no sound. i've tried another game (transport tycoon and i get sound there)

Reproducibility of problem: allways

Dosbox 0.7 with latest d-fend beta

Steps already attempted: as described above

Try it without using dfend - dfend could be mounting the game folder itself as drive, making the game not find its sound files.

i've allready did that, but no change. besides i have mounted my whole games partition so that shouldnt be a problem.

So you tried it without dfend ? Ascendancy works perfectly fine for me - i played it for days a few weeks ago. I can't think of anything it could be besides a bad installation or a bad mount.

Ok, i've just tried something different. I have the german original version of the game. Now i thought use a english version you can download from the net.
Made a new profile for that one in d-fend with the same settings and BOOM, i've got sound 🤣
Now thats really odd... the downloaded version contains files which the german version doesnt copy from the cd (ascend02.cob and logic.flc)
So i thought my original version might work if i copy those 2 files into the game folder... sadly it didnt work.
So, the english version probably got some sort of nocd crack.
And the mounting of the cd-rom seems to be not working like it should and thats the reason why i dont get sound cause the game doesnt find the soundfile (since it allways detects the emulated soundcards right).
