Greetings all,
I will be going through all of my games from 2005'ish and earlier in an effort to notate their maximum color mode capabilities.
I'm doing this because:
- Some games look ugly, or lose fidelity, or lose special effects in wrong color modes, with which they were not designed.
- I want to create retro systems which only play games with color modes not exceeding 16bit.
- I don't like readjusting my CRT monitor(s) for different modes, colors, and refresh rates.
- I want to justify playing games on 3dfx cards prior to the VSA series.
- I don't want to sacrifice games designed with 32bit color by playing them on the 3dfx cards.
- Someone else might want to know the same when designing their retro system, and this list could be handy.
- I enjoy imposing artificial limits in a retro-environment of nigh-unlimited resources; thus, allocating resources more efficiently.
If anyone would like to contribute their own findings/knowledge; kindly reply in the thread, and I will update the reserved posts.
