Hello! This one is my first post so nice to meet you all.

Yesterday I tried to install X-Com Apocalypse, well I read that I need DOSBox and I donwload it. This moorning I installed it, I configured... and I tried to run my old cd... but I couldn't. I found this forum and a couple of very good guides to run this game... but nothing.

I execute the file XCOM3 as the guide says -after do the full ins, etc.- but the game doesn't load. It simply says X-com apocalypse by... don't forget micropose. Push any key to continue, and when I push a key it only continues into the DOSBox. Actually I never leave the program. It doesn't laod the intro, or any sound... I did everything the guides told me... I'm frustarted 😠

My DosBox is 0.7
ANd WIN XP

Any idea???

I'd advise you to go into setup and disable any sound for starters - if it runs after you do this, you picked the wrong settings. Microprose has some of the most awful installation programs and they often pick wrong settings for all kinds of things like sound, VESA, etc.

Thx for the reply but still not working, I disabled the sound and I'm getting the same message:
"X-COM3 APOCALYPSE from Alex-God
Don't forget Micropose...
Press any key to continue"

And when I do it... nothing. Omg I wish I had an old comp wih the win 3.1 or 95...

What exe/bat do you start XCOM App with? Could be the wrong one.

Should be "Xcomapoc.exe" I think.

Erik.

Actually, I did a little search. He's not running the original X-Com Apoc. He probably is using a downloaded version that's been altered to run in Windows XP because Alex-God made a WinXP patch.

I have a CD, copied from the original. With xcomapoc.exe game wasn't working so I put a patch, then I tried to enter with Xcom3.bat, and intro.bat and nothing.

Except you used a patch to make it run in Windows XP and failed to mention that at all. No wonder it won't work, the files were modified to run under Windows XP, who do you expect? The clean install worked fine for Dosbox so start from that.

Also, you say you have a copy of the original but are you sure that copy isn't modified? There's plenty of ISOs floating around that have "fixes" that end up causing problems in Dosbox.

So what do you suggest? 'Cause is obviously not working without DosBox, otherwise I wouldn't be here.
Without tthe DosBox I have exacly dteh same problem. After the message of press a key nothing happens.

You can't run modified versions of games in Dosbox if they were made to run in Windows XP - the original unmodified version worked fine last time I tested it.
