I actually bought this a while back, along with a GTX 480 for $20. They were both sold as defective, and I thought I could make use of their coolers worst case. I was unable to repair either of them, so I sent them in to a professional GPU repair shop. This GTX 780 got its GPU reballed for $30 and is working like a champ now. The GTX 480 also had the same treatment, but the GPU was still not being detected by the card according to the repair technician. I'm not surprised, these Fermi cards ran super damn HOT, must've completely died somehow. Anyway, I ended up with a working GTX 780 for $50 and I'm super happy about it.
The 400 series Fermi card were ..delicate fire breathing demons, ran hot but if you looked at them the wrong way they get all flustered by the heat and fall over, 500 series were a little better due to more substantial cooling but they too had similar issues .. got a GTX580 that is temperamental due to getting too hot one gaming session. Was an awesome GPU for the time too, it does still work on the occasions I need to use it for testing but I dont trust it for much else.
The 780 is an awesome little GPU too glad you got it working again, its one of the GPUs that nVidia no longer updates drivers for but it shouldn't have any issues running games from its era, IIRC only the 750ti gets new drivers now due to it being Maxwell based. (Which reminds me that I need to buy a 4gb 750ti for my test rig)

WOW! "GPU repair shop" ! 😲😁👌 Oh, I wish..... we had such exotic things in my part of the world.
Seriously!
And, I wonder what kinda shop that is, that does such things, and so cheaply !? I mean, only $30USD to fix/reball 1 GPU ?
Do they perhaps repair other (retro/PC) things as well ? And do they take international orders ?
(seems like a very narrow niche, repairing only GPU's, heh)

It's not really all that cheap in local currency to be honest, it's just that our local currency has had three consecutive years of meltdown so pretty much everything sounds cheap to foreigners 😅
Second video shows them reballing an RX570 GPU: https://www.ensabilgisayar.com.tr/video-galeri
If the location of that site is correct its about 440 worth of your local currency, not sure what the average wage is there but it doesnt sound cheap to me at all.
