Can you talk about this? I had more or less immediate success triple booting a foxconn based socket a system (win2kpro,winxp,rhel3), despite frequent no starts and occasional lockups. The mobo and ram were presumed new, as was the dookie p4/amd ready p/s. Hard drive was used, but probably not a lot. Others have had issues with socket 462 and it makes me curious. Would like to learn more details.
Sure! So, system specs are an MSI board, dont know what chipset at the moment. Cpu is an Athlon XP 3200+ 1.1ghz, about 750mb ish of DDR, thats only because of Win98's 1gb ram error. Gpu is an ATI Radeon HD 4650 AGP, no drivers yet. Which can i get help with that? And for sound is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16, i also need drivers for 😅
Now my issues started when I tried to run DOS 6.22 on it, just testing my written floppies, ya know. Went to boot to C and it gave me "unknown file system, entering Grub Rescue mode"
Tried to boot Win2000 CD, same error. Unknown filesystem.
Tried my Win95 on floppy, but disk 5 had a corrupt cab file, so that was a scratch.
Then i finally got Win98SE to install after a few tries and finding out i needed a boot floppy 😂
So, in short, my issues were purely getting an OS on the system. I blame my limited, yet growing knowledge of older systems honestly 🤣.
