I've got an ALS007 that I'm trying to get setup in a 286 machine. Working perfectly in DOS using UNISOUND. The official ALS drivers all seem to require 386 - in DOS the utilities will simply lock up and in Windows the drivers complain about a missing virtual device driver when you try to use them in standard mode.
I'm currently using the soundblaster pro wave driver and sb16 FM driver in Windows 3.1 and it works fine. However this limits me to 8bit 22kHz. I'd like to find another driver that will function with the ALS card to give me the full 16bit 44.1kHz capability. I tried using the SB 16 wave driver. It loads if you manually set HDmaChannel=1 in system.ini but despite playing the startup wav correctly you cannot play any subsequent wave files in windows (says device is busy)
So in short, I need a wave driver that supports 44.1kHz sample rate (and ideally 16bit using the low DMA channel as well) that will run in standard mode on a 286.
