Not my card, but mine is very much like it.

The attachment ess1868_with_qs700_wav.jpg is no longer available

You can see next to each input/output audio jack there's a set of four jumpers; they seem to jumper the left/right audio signals to ground.

Anyone have any idea why this would be? A hardware "mute" option? Convert a mono input to stereo?

Looks like internal headers to me.
Its usually that or a way to toggle any amplification on the output.
