Does anyone have this combination working successfully?

At first, the game didn't recognize that there was a gamepad. I found this thread with an SDL.dll to try out. USB joystick

With that dll, the gamepad is recognized, however, the game menu just keeps spinning continously 😀 Can't actually get a game started to see if there would be problems in game as well or not.

I remember this problem waaaaay back when I first played Tomb Raider, but after messing with the gamepad a little, the menu would stop spinning. Can't get it to stop now w/ the 360 controller and DOSBox.

I had this problem when i had "cycles=auto" in dosbox.conf. I solved it by using fixed cycles - i'm playing the 3DFX accelerated version, so i don't need that much CPU horsepower for TR anyway.

You could also play around with the "timed=" parameter, this is joystick-related. I don't know exactly what it does, though.

Btw: TR's Joypad support sucks bigtime. You can only use 4 buttons, which is not nearly sufficient for mapping all controls. Without DOSBox, you'd have to play the game with a combination of Joystick and Keyboard, which is nearly impossible. The DOSBox solution: set "buttonwrap=false", and use the mapper to assign the keyboard controls to the Joypad. Works very well.

Edit: i'm not using a 360 Pad, but i believe the problem isn't related to that specific pad.

Try some cvs build (see the development forum) if it works better then.
