I got this iso file for the (apparently) English version of the game, and mounted it on drive G using Daemon Tools. Then, I got to DOSBox:

Z:\>mount c g:\
Drive C is mounted as local directory g:\

Z:\>c:\

C:\>dir
Directory of C:\
DEMO <DIR>
MUSEE <DIR>
OUTLINE <DIR>
SHADOW <DIR>
INSTALL EXE
INSTALL OPT
MUSEUM EXE
SHADOW EXE
SHADO_CD CFG
5 File(s)
4 Dir(s)

C:\> shadow

You must install the game before playing!

And then it won't let me type anything else, I can do is exit the program and retry. When I redo all the commands and try running install instead, a cute game-like interface green balloon appears that says "Installation path must be : C:\INFOGRAM\SHADOW.CD", with a classic OK button with the big green tick on it, and the cursor is enabled. So I click OK, the cursor disappears and again I can do nothing else. I'm really not used to doing this kind of things, so I thought it would be helpful to let you know every single step I took.

Anyway, if anyone can help at all, I'd really appreciate it. =]

1. make sure you mount g: as D drive with the "-ioctl" switch

2. make a directory on your real hdd, such c:\dosgames abd mount that as C: drive with mount c c:\dosgames

The game needs somewhere to install to.

After doing that, the same sort of balloon popped-up saying "Installation path must be : C:\INFOGRAM\SHADOW.CD", only this time when I click OK it takes me back to the normal command line. I tried creating a folder INFOGRAM\SHADOW.CD inside \dosgames on my real HD, and tried mount c c:\dosgames, but nothing changes.

What is the -ioctl for anyway?

Delete the stuff that you have there right now. It's completely wrong.
You need to install the game from within DOSBox.
Then the proper directory structure will be created.

I have no problems running this game in Dosbox. As suggested above make sure you run the install from within Dosbox.
