Must be installed in safe mode. Read the readme

What to expect from an NF7 and a Radeon 3850 AGP:

😀

I decided to try my X800 in my Socket A system, and 3D 2001 restarts the system right after the Nature test. I remembered this thread, and I decided to install the CSA patch. But when I install the patch (in Safe Mode) I get the error "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." This is with a fresh install of XP and Catalyst 10.2 drivers. The card works fine in a Pentium 4 system, and this system works fine with an Nvidia 6800 GT. Any suggestions?

I found the answer on another old forum: I needed to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86). Once I did so, the patch ran with no issues.

After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?

Yup this fixed it for me ... I just ran Legacy Update and made sure Windows XP was fully updated 😀

Further update ... I am just going to call it a day running an AGP X1950 GT with my Athlon XP 3000+ on the whole they just don't play nice together 🙁 so I have gone back to using Geforce 6800XT in this build.
