And I tried to peer into my crystal ball to see exactly how you mount the CD, but I failed. What do you think we should do about it? Should I get a new crystal ball, or could you post the mount instructions here?

and the other versions there were also posted in the readme file.

Try the -ioctl and -label options.

If your CD drive letter is E and you have the disc in it "mount d e:\ -t cdrom" should work.
So, is your CD drive letter E?
Do you have the disc in drive E?
And how did you install the game if it isn't reading from the disc?

I am having the same issue... it installs from CD fine (fully legit version BTW) but I can't get it to work. I've tried using a win98 virtual machine... i'll give DOSBox a go and see how it goes

The actual message is:
"Place the Alien Legacy CD in the CD-ROM drive. If you cannot locate the appropriate CD, type [ESCAPE] to exit to DOS. Otherwise, type any other key to continue."
