Hi all,

Having a real blast with dosbox .70. Thought I'd try spycraft for dos, and it seems to have problems detecting the soundcard.

By default, the dosbox.conf has both sblaster and gus active, and after disabling the gus, spysetup will autodetect the sound blaster properly.

If you run soundcard autodetect in spysetup with the gus enabled, it seems to stuff up the sound necessitating a restart of dosbox.

Thanks for reading,

Don

Yes it's interesting, maybe they need the gravis patches installed?

If I remember correctly quake has sound problems with gus enabled, maybe it should be disabled by default?

What problems? Quake is fine for me with default settings (ie. gus enabled).

I did some checking, and actually the version I have on cd has cd music but no sound effects with gus enabled and the shareware version tries to use ultrasound when gus is enabled, and the result is no sound. I could find no way to select soundcard through the game.

Nevermind, I figured it out. I had the ultrasnd folder in my dosgames directory, and deleting it got rid of the problem.
