Ultima 8 no sound

This is weird. I decided to play Ultima 8, but even though I felt like starting from the beginning, loading the "beginning" save slot just reloaded where I was at the last save, even though I removed everything from the SAVEGAME directory. After that, I just deleted it and re-extracted the archive. Anyway, now when I try to play the game, there's no sound, and when I open the option menu to turn on the sound, the check boxes for Sound, Music, and Avatar's Steps don't do anything. They just stay blank even when I click them. I think it might have something to do with these lines that appear when I start DOSBox...
Z:\>SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 T6
Z:\>SET ULTRASND=240,3,3,5,5
Z:\>SET ULTRADIR=C:\ULTRASND
I didn't see any lines like that in the autoexec part of DOSbox.conf, and there's no directory in my C drive named ULTRASND. If anyone could help me out here, I'd appreciate it.

Those lines are generated on the fly by DOSBox when you have the SoundBlaster and the Gravis UltraSound (GUS) devices activated in the DOSBox configuration. They shouldn't cause any harm, but if you don't intend to use the GUS emulation in the game, you might as well de-activate GUS.

You should really disable GUS in your dosbox.conf (it causes sound problems sometimes) and reconfigure the sound settings through U8's install.exe according to the blaster settings (SB Pro has IRQ5 by default, set it to 7).

I got it working now, and I even figured out something else; apparently the last music card setting for install.exe makes Ultima 8 use the computer's own MIDI instruments, instead of the synth tones. Thanks for the help!
